I’m collecting the reasons people ride.
Leave yours, and take a stranger’s with you.
Midnight on a beach during a long race. I fall asleep to the sound of
the waves, knowing there are other riders spread around town, each looking
for a piece of calm in the overwhelming task of carrying on. We are
strangers, finding comfort in each other’s presence. In the rawness
of our nature, we rediscover connection. That’s why.
So I’m asking you. It can be one line or a whole story. Or send me a
memory from a ride, and maybe I’ll draw it.
How it works
Leave a why.
Tell me why you ride, or send a memory from a ride. At a race I might
hand you one of my cards: write it on the back and give it back to me.
Here, you can leave it in the form below.
Take a why.
In return you get someone else’s. A stranger’s reason, from
another rider, to take home with you.
That’s why.
Some of the memories become drawings, and the drawings become cards
and shirts. Every shirt asks Why? on the front and answers
That’s why. on the back, and comes with a note I write by
hand. What you pay helps fuel my racing.
The card. A drawing on the front, your why on the back. The shirt. Why? on the front, That’s why. on the back. Coming soon.
You took a why
While you’re here
This box lives on my site, a place for the things I make around bikes.
Less about performance, more about the question why.
